Savana Consultants have been involved in the transport and storage of Dangerous Goods since 1978 and as such have seen the development of legislation. This legislation has developed to cover training of employees, operation and specification of equipment and the written information that is required to be available during transport and storage.

Since the 31st December 1999, all companies which carry out the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road, Rail and Inland Waterway or the related loading or unloading of Dangerous Goods must have appointed a properly qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA). The DGSA must hold a vocational training certificate (VTC) for the modes of transport concerned and the classes of Dangerous Goods carried.

The Directive requires that the undertaking is responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the Directive are complied with. The DGSA can be the head of the undertaking, a person responsible in the undertaking, or a person not directly employed by the undertaking.

Savana Consultants has been appointed to act as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers to both local and national transport undertakings. We are also pleased to act as DGSA for UK based and Multi-national manufacturing companies with operational sites within the UK. In the import/export of dangerous goods Savana has many years experience in international codes of practice.
